Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Edmonton
Our mission is to alter the public’s perception and remove barrier’s
for the hard of hearing in the Edmonton region by providing support,
advocacy and programs.
CART
Advocating for the use of CART (Communication Access
Real-time Communication) and captioning at public events, live theatres,
special events, television broadcasting, political events, elections,
and information sessions (federal, provincial, and civic).
Speech Reading Classes
Speechreading classes are offered for older teens and adults at
a beginner level. An advanced level is taught if the class wishes
to continue. There is al;so a Senior Committee that offers speechreading
classes and a social gathering.
The Hearing-Aid Assistance Fund
A Hearing Aid Assistance Fund is available for persons 19 through
64 years. This is to assist anyone in financial need that requires
a new hearing aid(s) to enable them communicate effectively to attend
school or work.
Young Adults Commitee
The Young Adults Committee (18 - 30 years) meets once a month. They
may meet socially at various times throughout the month to build
friendships and support one another.
